![]() Writers of short manuscripts and essays can also use scene cards to help organize the flow of a piece. Unlike loglines and treatments, scene cards are sometimes used in the development of larger manuscripts and novels. Cards can be rearranged or moved around to develop the story arc. This provides a visual glimpse of the entire story. Scriptwriters do this using scene cards.Įach scene gets an index card with a short description of the events. Once a treatment flushes out the idea, individual scenes are developed. Though, learning to vet and develop an idea before committing to writing can help all writers flesh out their work. Long before anything is written, an idea is funneled into a logline: a one-sentence synopsis of the entire film. When creating a film, writing the script is not the first step.
